When does Grundsicherungsgeld arrive?
Benefits are to be paid monthly in advance (§ 42 Abs. 1 SGB II).
According to the Federal Employment Agency, the transferred money is usually available one calendar day before the month it is paid for.
There is no fixed date based on a final digit as there is for Kindergeld.
To which account
The money is transferred to the account given in the application. According to the Federal Employment Agency, it does not have to be your own.
Banks are required by law to open a basic account.
The Jobcenter has no influence on delays along the payment route.
The first payment
Payment is made as soon as the Jobcenter has approved the application. How long processing takes depends on the individual case; we do not name a period for it.
If the money does not last until then, an advance or a provisional decision is a matter for the Jobcenter. Ask there.
Receiving part of it early
On request, an amount already approved can be paid out early, at most 100 € (§ 42 Abs. 2 Satz 2 SGB II).
The amount is deducted again the following month. Early payment is ruled out, among other things, if it was already used in one of the two preceding months.
If nothing arrives
Then these three points are worth checking:
- Is the approval period (Bewilligungszeitraum) still running, or is the renewal application missing?
- Are the account details at the Jobcenter up to date?
- Is there a reduction or an offset stated in the decision?
Which amount is due when is stated in the approval notice.
The money is protected
The claim to benefits for securing a livelihood cannot be assigned, transferred, pledged or seized (§ 42 Abs. 4 SGB II).
