How things go on once everything is filled in

The application is not submitted digitally. You print it out, sign it by hand and hand it in at Familienkasse yourself. You do these steps — no longer here on the screen.

  1. Print everything out

    Print out all the sheets you get here: the main application and every annex. Use white A4 paper and print on one side only — so just one page per sheet. Do not staple or clip anything together. Then check every page: everything has to be complete and clearly readable. If you have no printer at home, you can do this at a copy shop, a library or an advice centre.

  2. Sign by hand

    Sign only after printing, by hand and with a ballpoint or fountain pen. A typed or scanned signature is not valid. Sign everywhere there is a field marked “Unterschrift” (signature) — on the annexes too, not just on the main application. If a field is meant for your partner, that person has to sign it themselves; you may not do it for them. Next to the signature, enter the date of the day you sign.

  3. Attach supporting documents and sheets filled in by others

    Attach all the supporting documents listed above — for example a copy of an identity document or a birth certificate. To these are added the sheets that you did not fill in but your employer or an authority did. They have to be back with you, signed and stamped, before you send the application off. Always attach copies and never original documents — as a rule you do not get originals back.

  4. Keep a copy for yourself

    Before you send it off, make a copy or a photo of everything you are submitting: the signed application, every annex and every supporting document. Keep it safe. If questions come later or documents get lost, that lets you show exactly what you submitted and when.

  5. Hand it in at Familienkasse yourself

    Send the signed application with all annexes and supporting documents to Familienkasse yourself. The Familienkasse responsible for your place of residence is the one to use; which one that is and where to write is at www.familienkasse.de. You can send the documents by post or hand them in in person. Antragscenter does not submit the application and does not forward it — this last step is yours.
